The date matters
more than the rate.

Money you earn in dollars or euros goes into your books in lari. As a rule it is counted at the official rate of the day it reached your account — not the day you sent the invoice, and not the rate your bank exchanged it at.

Check the rule for your own case with your accountant.

Asked
often.

What is the official rate of the lari?

The rate the National Bank of Georgia sets for each currency against the lari. It is published on working days and is valid from the following day.

Is it the rate my bank will give me?

No. Commercial banks set their own buying and selling rates, usually a little apart from the official one. The official rate is a reference for accounting and reporting.

Which rate applies on weekends and holidays?

The last one that was set. Pick a Sunday in the converter and you get the rate that was in force on that day.

Why is the yen quoted per 100 and the dram per 1,000?

For small currencies the National Bank quotes a round number of units so the rate keeps its precision. The converter takes that into account for you.

Where do the numbers come from?

Straight from the National Bank of Georgia. If the bank cannot be reached, the page says so and shows the last rates it has saved.
